Town is an applied AI company building a persistent AI assistant that learns from users' voice, judgment, relationships, and priorities to take real work on their behalf across email, calendar, docs, Slack, CRM, and other tools. The company recently raised $55M Series A led by Andreessen Horowitz. You will own Town's community function end-to-end, building the strategy, events calendar, and peer-learning infrastructure that turns individual user-built routines into widely-adopted workflows. This is not a traditional events role focused on attendance metrics—success is measured by whether community measurably improves how people use Town. Key responsibilities: - Develop and execute community strategy: define target audiences, design programs, and set clear success metrics for each. - Take Town into existing communities where users already gather; show up authentically rather than as a corporate booth. - Build the peer-learning engine: identify users doing interesting work, package their routines and skills into reusable forms, and distribute them across the user base. - Grow the online community by setting tone, seeding discussions, and ensuring quality peer responses that drive retention. - Create and manage the events calendar: in-office show-and-tells, builder nights, workshops, dinners, and presence at key AI industry events. - Convert community output into go-to-market fuel: user-built workflows, routines, and stories for Marketing, Sales, and Support to leverage. - Close feedback loops with Product and Support: surface user pain points and feature requests before they reach the broader team. - Define success metrics and instrument the community: track touchpoints, activation, retention, and adoption among community members versus the broader user base. - Partner with Content Marketing and Product Marketing on launches: community plays a role before, during, and after every product ship. Requirements: - Proven experience in community, customer marketing, or event marketing, with a track record of running programs directly (not managing people who did). - Demonstrated ability to build something from nothing—a program, community, or conference track—with measurable impact. - Advanced AI power user: you've built real workflows with agents or automation tools and can help users optimize their setups in real time. - Strong writing skills with a distinctive voice that people want to read. - Hands-on event execution experience: venue selection, catering, run-of-show, day-of logistics. - Comfort with metrics and data; ability to own and track KPIs naturally alongside program design. - Based in San Francisco and committed to five days per week in-office presence. - Self-directed: you find work, close loops, and deliver without requiring external accountability.
