Salary: USD 163,275 - 244,860 / annual
STOKE Space is building Nova, a fully reusable launch vehicle designed for daily flight to radically lower space transportation costs and increase flight cadence. The company seeks a mid-level corporate attorney to join its in-house legal team and support the full lifecycle of commercial contracting activities in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
The role involves drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a broad range of commercial agreements including NDAs, launch services agreements, software and technology licenses, vendor and supplier agreements, master services agreements, and consulting agreements. You will develop and maintain scalable contracting infrastructure, including standard contract templates, clause libraries, negotiation playbooks, and approval processes designed to increase consistency, efficiency, and contract velocity as the company scales.
Key responsibilities include owning commercial contract negotiations from intake through execution, independently handling routine and moderately complex matters while exercising sound judgment about escalation. You will advise on critical contractual provisions including intellectual property, confidentiality, indemnification, limitation of liability, insurance, data security, compliance, payment, and termination terms. The role requires driving strategic alignment across business development, engineering, finance, IT/security, and executive teams to find compliant and business-enabling solutions.
You will partner with the legal team on broader corporate and operational matters, contribute to building a high-performing business-oriented legal function, and identify opportunities to leverage technology and automation to improve legal processes. The position offers flexibility to assist with various legal matters outside core expertise as business needs arise.
Required qualifications include a JD from an accredited law school with active bar membership and 8+ years of experience in commercial or corporate practice, preferably in aerospace, defense, or hardware technology sectors. You must demonstrate excellent analytical, negotiation, and drafting skills; ability to prioritize multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment; and consensus-building capabilities across cross-functional teams. Aerospace, defense, or hardware technology industry experience is highly desirable, along with familiarity understanding technically complex systems and excellent communication skills.
