Salary: USD 175,000 - 195,000 / annual
Firestorm is building expeditionary defense manufacturing and autonomous systems, including modular unmanned aircraft and deployable microfactories (xCell) designed for rapid deployment at the point of need. The company develops Crucible, a software platform that orchestrates a distributed manufacturing network spanning commercial cloud, government cloud, factory environments, and air-gapped deployments.
As a Cloud Infrastructure Engineer (Senior or Staff level), you will be a core member of the infrastructure team responsible for designing, building, and operating Crucible's cloud platform. You'll work directly with software engineers to architect and implement the infrastructure, services, networking, and deployment patterns that enable Crucible's capabilities across multiple environments.
Key responsibilities include: designing Crucible's cloud platform architecture in collaboration with software teams; developing and operating Kubernetes clusters, cloud services, and networking across development and production; building and evolving infrastructure-as-code using Terraform, Helm, and GitOps workflows; designing secure cloud solutions including identity, access controls, network boundaries, and secrets management; improving developer velocity through better deployment tooling and environments; building observability, recovery mechanisms, and operational tooling for production reliability; and supporting complex deployments across commercial cloud, GovCloud, and on-premise or disconnected environments.
Required qualifications: U.S. citizenship with ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance; 6+ years of production cloud infrastructure, platform engineering, or SRE experience; deep expertise in cloud architecture and production operations; production Kubernetes experience; strong Terraform and infrastructure-as-code skills; solid fundamentals in cloud networking, Linux, identity, and security; experience building CI/CD and GitOps systems; production observability and distributed systems debugging; strong software engineering and scripting abilities; demonstrated ability to design cloud solutions from ambiguous requirements.
Preferred qualifications include AWS and AWS GovCloud experience, Helm/Argo CD/Istio expertise, multi-account/multi-environment cloud architecture design, IAM/OIDC/OAuth2/PKI/workload identity experience, and experience deploying containerized systems in on-premise or air-gapped environments.
