Pulsora is a well-funded Silicon Valley enterprise sustainability platform founded in 2021, dedicated to helping purpose-driven enterprises manage their environmental, social, and governance (ESG) and sustainability footprint through integrated technology for compliance, tracking, and insight.
In this role, you will sit between customers and product, owning carbon accounting methodology and execution. You'll work directly with sustainability leaders at enterprise customers as they build their GHG inventory programs, leading methodology work behind inventory build, target setting, and disclosure. You own the emission factor library and calculation methodology, translating regulatory change into concrete product requirements.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead customer engagements on GHG inventory build, assurance, decarbonization planning, and voluntary/regulatory reporting, ensuring calculations and disclosures survive third-party audit scrutiny.
- Shape product capabilities for greenhouse gas accounting across Scopes 1, 2, and 3, decarbonization target-setting and tracking (SBTi, CDP), and audit-ready data lineage.
- Maintain the emission factor library end-to-end: sourcing, versioning, provenance, and retirement across DEFRA/DESNZ, EPA GHG Emission Factors Hub, IEA grid factors, and sector-specific sets. Manage GWP sets across IPCC AR4, AR5, and AR6.
- Serve as subject matter expert on carbon accounting and sustainability regulations/standards, providing guidance during customer onboarding, training, and ongoing platform usage.
- Gather requirements from clients and stakeholders; collaborate with engineering, design, and cross-functional teams to prioritize requests.
- Use AI-assisted coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot) to independently build prototypes, internal tools, and AI applications that accelerate discovery and validate ideas with customers.
This is a hands-on methodology role requiring real time spent in activity data, emission factors, standard text, and calculation logic. You'll work with a global team, including offshore colleagues in India, with flexibility to work outside regular business hours as needed.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in environmental science, business, or related field; advanced master's degree or MBA preferred.
- 5+ years proven track record in climate consulting or sustainability analyst roles, with significant experience in carbon accounting, sustainability consulting, sustainability framework advice, regulatory counseling, or related domains.
- Deep understanding of GHG Protocol, ISO 1406X family of standards, and sustainability regulations/frameworks (CSRD, CDP, SBTi, PCAF, GRI, SASB, TCFD, EU Taxonomy, SFDR, EDCI, etc.).
- Hands-on experience building or auditing a full Scope 1–3 inventory under GHG Protocol Corporate Standard and Corporate Value Chain (Scope 3) Standard.
- Fluency in emission factor sourcing and application: understanding where factors come from, how editions differ, what breaks when sources revise, and how GWP set changes propagate through restated inventories.
- Familiarity with sustainability assurance and audit practices (ISAE 3000/3410, AA1000AS, limited vs. reasonable assurance) and the data lineage, controls, and documentation needed for third-party audits.
- Understanding of decarbonization strategy, science-based target setting (SBTi), CDP disclosures, marginal abatement cost curves, scenario analysis, and how companies translate net-zero commitments into operational reduction plans.
- Familiarity with AI-assisted "vibe coding" tools (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, Replit) to build prototypes and internal tools—deep AI/ML engineering background not required, but comfort shipping real tools with AI assistance expected.
- Comfort operating in ambiguity at the intersection of regulated domains and fast-moving AI, making thoughtful trade-offs between accuracy, latency, cost, and compliance risk.
- Self-starter who takes ownership, works well independently, manages multiple simultaneous projects, and deals well with ambiguity and last-minute changes.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to translate complex requirements into actionable product plans.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills; ability to engage and influence internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience in agile development environments and familiarity with product management tools (Jira, Confluence, etc.).
- Experience working with global teams and willingness to work outside regular business hours with offshore team in India.
- Ideally, industry and market knowledge of ESG and sustainability.
