Mercor is an AI data company building infrastructure between human expertise and frontier AI models. The company operates a platform where millions of domain experts train frontier AI models, and is expanding into enterprise with Mercor Enterprise, helping Fortune 500 companies capture and translate expert knowledge into AI agents.
As Client Services Lead for Healthcare, you will own Mercor's relationships with healthcare and life sciences clients—providers, payers, pharma, and health-tech companies—from initial contact through long-term account growth. This is a 0→1 role where you'll build the healthcare client function largely from scratch, sitting at the intersection of client management, data strategy, contracting, and stakeholder alignment.
Key responsibilities include:
• Building the healthcare client function: identify, engage, and onboard healthcare and life sciences clients; test and iterate on service models tailored to healthcare needs (clinical accuracy, regulatory constraints, data sensitivity); create early playbooks for serving this sector.
• Account ownership and growth: lead client conversations end-to-end from scoping through renewal and expansion; qualify needs, define mutual value, and drive engagements to close.
• Contracting and negotiation: own negotiations on pricing, scope, timelines, and obligations; work with Legal and Finance to move quickly; navigate data rights, privacy, and compliance requirements specific to healthcare (HIPAA, etc.).
• Stakeholder management: serve as primary point of contact for healthcare clients and senior stakeholders; manage complex multi-party relationships with clinical, compliance, and technical teams; align internal teams (Product, Research, Ops, Legal) around client priorities.
• Operate scrappily then systematize: start hands-on building client lists, running outreach, drafting docs, and closing deals yourself; identify patterns and convert them into repeatable processes as the business scales.
You'll work in-person five days a week in San Francisco (with offices also in NYC and London). The role requires a builder mentality, comfort with ambiguity and 0→1 problems, scrappiness, resourcefulness, strong commercial instincts, negotiation skills, clear communication, and executive presence. You'll operate independently while partnering closely with internal teams.
Requirements:
• 5+ years in Client Service, Account Management, or Commercial roles serving healthcare or life sciences clients
• Proven experience negotiating and closing contracts
• Track record managing high-stakes external stakeholders, including clinical and compliance functions
• Direct experience working with data products
Nice to have:
• Experience in healthcare, life sciences, health-tech, or payer/provider organizations
• Exposure to data-driven products, AI, or technical/clinical stakeholders
• Cross-functional experience with legal and finance teams
• Familiarity with healthcare compliance and data rights (HIPAA, HITRUST)
