Brodie League is a fast-growing adult recreational basketball league operating 30+ locations across North America with 50,000 athletes. As a City Launcher, you will open and operate a new Brodie market in Kansas City, serving as the face of the brand in your city and building a thriving community around competitive, professional-quality basketball.
This role blends community building, sales, and growth marketing. You will recruit a minimum of 24 founding captains in your first season, identify and negotiate a venue, fill the gym, and run the launch season. You stay in market as the ongoing leader: attending every game night, building relationships with captains and players by name, and maintaining the community through the season and beyond. As your track record grows, you will expand your territory to adjacent cities.
Core responsibilities include recruiting captains from your existing network in local basketball spaces (open runs, rec leagues, tournaments, training sessions); building relationships with key influencers (coaches, trainers, gym staff, run organizers, barbers, local business owners); identifying and negotiating gym venues; owning the local demand story from launch through season (social media, events, partnerships, word of mouth); tracking key metrics in CRM (teams signed, fill rate, revenue); and helping build the repeatable launch playbook for future Brodie cities.
You will report to the Sr. Director of Growth and work closely with operations, brand, and people teams. In-market presence is required, including evenings and weekends (game nights run roughly 7pm to midnight).
REQUIREMENTS:
- Live in the neighborhood being launched (or directly adjacent), not just the metro area
- Existing network in the local basketball community: coaches, trainers, gym staff, run organizers, tournament organizers, group-chat admins
- Currently active in basketball: playing in a rec league now or last season, in a gym weekly
- Standing/reputation in your scene: when you recommend something, people move
- Ability to name your first ten captains and credibility to get them on the phone
- Comfort building demand from zero (events, social, partnerships, word of mouth) with minimal budget
- Ability to close: can ask facility owners and captains for commitments and manage conversations from first touch through signature
- Comfort owning numbers, working in CRM, and adopting new tools quickly
- Availability on evenings and weekends
- Willingness to travel across territory as it expands
NICE TO HAVE:
- Experience running a run, league, tournament, training group, or community program
- Experience running social media for a local brand, venue, team, or community
- Background in sports, events, hospitality, fitness, lifestyle, or entertainment
- Experience selling partnerships, sponsorships, memberships, or experiential products
- 3+ years in sales, partnerships, community management, or growth (not a filter; network and credibility prioritized over title history)
