Brodie League is a fast-growing adult recreational basketball league with 50,000+ athletes across 30+ locations. As a City Launcher, you will open and operate a new Brodie market in the DC, Virginia, or Maryland region, serving as the face of the brand in your neighborhood.
This role combines community building, sales, and growth marketing. You will recruit a minimum of 24 founding captains from your existing network, identify and negotiate gym venues, build local demand through social media and events, and run the launch season. You stay in the market long-term, attending every game night, building relationships with captains and players, and monitoring league health (retention, team count, waitlist, feedback). As your track record grows, you will expand your territory to adjacent cities and help build the repeatable launch playbook for future Brodie markets.
The role requires in-market presence, including evenings and weekends (game nights run roughly 7pm to midnight). You will report to the Sr. Director of Growth and work closely with operations, brand, and people teams.
Key responsibilities:
- Recruit 24+ founding captains from your personal network and local basketball community
- Walk into gyms and courts where you are already a familiar face; build relationships with coaches, trainers, gym staff, run organizers, and local influencers
- Identify, evaluate, and negotiate gym venues; prove demand before signing leases
- Own the local social media page, host open runs and events, and build anticipation pre-launch
- Attend game nights and build genuine community relationships
- Monitor league health metrics (retention, revenue, waitlist) and escalate early when behind
- Help develop the repeatable launch playbook for future cities
REQUIREMENTS:
- Live in the neighborhood you are launching in (or directly adjacent), not just the metro area
- Existing network in the local basketball community: coaches, trainers, gym staff, run organizers, tournament organizers, group-chat admins
- Currently active in the game: playing in a rec league now or last season, in a gym weekly
- Standing and credibility in your scene; when you recommend something, people move
- Ability to name your first ten captains and credibility to get them on the phone
- Comfort building demand from zero (events, social, partnerships, word of mouth) with minimal budget
- Ability to close: can ask facility owners and captains for commitments without hesitation
- Comfort owning numbers, working in CRM, and adopting new tools quickly
- Availability on evenings and weekends
- Willingness to travel across your territory as it expands
Nice to have: experience running a league, tournament, training group, or community program; social media experience for a local brand; background in sports, events, hospitality, fitness, or entertainment; experience selling partnerships or memberships; 3+ years in sales, partnerships, community management, or growth.
