Brodie League is a fast-growing adult recreational basketball league operating across 30+ locations with 50,000 athletes. As a City Launcher, you will open and operate a new Brodie market in Austin, serving as the face of the brand in your neighborhood and building a thriving community around competitive, professional-quality basketball. This role blends community building, sales, and growth marketing. You will recruit a minimum of 24 founding captains by leveraging your existing network in the local basketball scene. You'll identify and negotiate gym venues, validate market demand before signing leases, and own the full launch sequence from zero awareness to a full gym on opening night. Throughout the season and beyond, you'll attend every game night, build genuine relationships with captains and players, monitor league health metrics (retention, team count, waitlist), and help develop the repeatable playbook for future city launches. Key responsibilities include: recruiting captains from your existing network and open runs/rec leagues you already participate in; building relationships with gym staff, coaches, trainers, and local influencers who can drive player recruitment; identifying and evaluating venues, then negotiating and closing deals; owning the local social media presence and demand-generation strategy pre-launch; hosting open runs and events to convert interest into signed teams; attending all game nights and maintaining community engagement; tracking metrics in CRM (teams signed, fill rate, revenue) to ensure forecastability; and earning the right to expand into adjacent cities as your track record grows. You will report to the Sr. Director of Growth and work closely with operations, brand, and people teams. In-market presence is required, including evenings and weekends (game nights run roughly 7pm to midnight). REQUIREMENTS: - You live in the Austin neighborhood you will launch in, or directly adjacent. Not the metro area. - Existing network in the local basketball community: coaches, trainers, gym staff, run organizers, tournament organizers, group-chat admins. - Currently active in the game: playing in a rec league now or last season, in a gym weekly. You are a participant in the culture, not a fan. - Standing in your scene: when you recommend something, people move. This is reputation-based, not follower count. - Ability to name your first ten captains by name and credibility to get them on the phone. - Comfort building demand from zero (events, social, partnerships, word of mouth) with minimal budget. - Closing ability: can ask a facility owner for a time slot and a captain for a deposit without hesitation, and manage conversations from first touch through signature. - Comfort owning numbers, working in CRM, and adopting new tools quickly. Tech acumen or curiosity expected. - Availability on evenings and weekends. - Willingness to travel across your territory as it expands. Nice to have: experience running a run, league, tournament, training group, or community program; social media experience for a local brand/venue/team; background in sports, events, hospitality, fitness, lifestyle, or entertainment; experience selling partnerships, sponsorships, memberships, or experiential products; 3+ years in sales, partnerships, community management, or growth (though network and credibility matter more than title history).
