ZAP Solutions, a market leader in admissions and enrollment management software for higher education institutions, is seeking a Chief Product & Technology Officer to lead a transformational phase. The company serves 175+ programs across the US, Canada, and Australia with its flagship AMP platform and companion modules (CRM, SAMS, Schedule Today). Recently acquired by Banyan Software, ZAP is transitioning from a customization-heavy model to a modern, scalable SaaS platform.
You will join as a core member of the leadership team reporting directly to the CEO, unifying product direction and technology execution. The engineering organization currently lacks formal leadership and product management functions—you will establish both. Your mandate is to evolve the platform to double the customer base without doubling the codebase, bring product management maturity to an experienced engineering team, and establish an AI-first operating rhythm.
Key responsibilities include: owning product direction by synthesizing customer signals, usage data, and market insights; conducting product discovery (focus groups, advisory councils, spec creation); establishing formal prioritization, roadmap, and release planning; defining and executing the technical vision for platform scalability, security, and modernization; building and scaling the engineering organization with clear career paths and accountability; establishing data governance and leveraging data as a competitive asset; driving AI-enabled workflows and features; and partnering with VP of Client Success to build a product operating model that balances customer relationships with market-facing strategy.
