Culture Amp is the world's leading employee experience platform serving 25 million employees across 6,000+ companies. The company is backed by leading venture capital and has offices in the US, UK, Germany, and Australia.
You will join as Chief People Officer, leading a strong and well-functioning People Experience (PX) function across four countries. This is not a turnaround role—the function delivers predictably, has a capable team, and already has a respected seat at the executive table. The opportunity is to leverage this platform for strategic impact.
Key responsibilities:
**Run People Experience Well**: Own the full PX function including performance management, engagement, compensation, talent acquisition, capability development, and compliance. Ensure your deputies own outcomes rather than tasks, design organizational structure ahead of strategy, and serve as a trusted advisor to the CEO and executive team on structure, senior hires, and complex decisions.
**Be Credible in Market and with Customers**: Your customers are your peers—a commercial asset. You'll speak at global events, join customer conversations, support Sales and Customer Experience with practitioner credibility, and develop a point of view on the future of work that resonates with HR leaders. Substance and specific perspective matter more than polish.
**Lead on AI Personally**: The incumbent leads AI transformation internally. You must be personally fluent with AI tools, using them in your own work and building with them. You'll set governance that enables rather than blocks adoption, drive behavior change across the organization, and help Culture Amp's own AI transformation become an external narrative.
**Influence Product**: Run Culture Amp on Culture Amp as Customer Zero. Give R&D feedback that shapes product bets, and generate proof points and narratives that Sales can leverage.
The role requires 2 days per week in the Melbourne office on average; the rest is flexible.
**Requirements:**
- Led a people function at scale in a global, multi-country business, ideally through significant change
- Built teams strong enough to make you unnecessary in operational detail
- Strong judgment on organizational structure, senior talent, and when to intervene
- Track record of saying unpopular things to powerful people early
- Personal fluency with AI: using it in your own work, building with it, setting governance that enabled adoption
- A defensible point of view on the future of work
- Willingness to be deployed commercially: customer calls, speaking at events, supporting Sales
- Motivated by internal practice being externally visible
- Ideally tech or SaaS experience, though scale and complexity matter more than industry
