Lindblad Expeditions, a pioneer in expedition travel since 1966, is seeking an exceptional Chief of Staff to serve as a strategic partner to the CEO and Executive Leadership Team. This is a highly visible enterprise leadership role focused on translating strategy into execution, leading complex cross-functional initiatives, and improving organizational effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Partnership & Enterprise Execution: Serve as a trusted advisor to the CEO, bringing perspective and sound judgment to key business opportunities and complex decisions. Partner with the CEO and ELT to define annual strategic priorities and translate them into clear enterprise objectives with ownership, milestones, and measures of progress. Build and run the enterprise operating cadence that converts strategic priorities into consistent execution. Maintain a holistic view across the enterprise, identifying cross-functional dependencies, emerging risks, and execution gaps requiring CEO or ELT attention.
CEO-Sponsored Strategic Initiatives: Take ownership of high-priority, ambiguous, cross-functional initiatives on behalf of the CEO, particularly those lacking a natural functional owner. Frame complex business questions, conduct necessary analysis, develop recommendations, and mobilize stakeholders to move from question to action. Drive initiatives end-to-end from problem definition through execution and delivery of measurable outcomes.
CEO Communications & Company Voice: Partner with the CEO to shape internal and external communications ensuring clear, consistent messaging aligned with company strategy. Draft CEO communications including company-wide messages, presentations, talking points, and speeches. Prepare the CEO for significant internal and external engagements.
Board Materials & Meeting Preparation: Partner with the CEO to shape Board meeting agendas and narratives. Lead end-to-end development of Board materials, synthesizing company performance, strategic priorities, and key opportunities. Coordinate inputs across the organization and ensure materials are clear, cohesive, and delivered on schedule.
Executive Leadership Team & Organizational Effectiveness: Partner with the CEO to shape and facilitate ELT meetings and offsites. Serve as a trusted thought partner on organizational culture and leadership effectiveness. Maintain a strong pulse on the organization and help reinforce desired culture through leadership actions and communications.
Executive & External Stakeholder Engagement: Build trusted relationships across the organization and serve as a credible extension of the CEO. Interface effectively with senior internal and external stakeholders, adapting communication to audience and situation. Handle highly confidential and sensitive matters with exceptional trustworthiness.
The successful candidate will combine strategic thinking, business judgment, operational rigor, executive presence, and emotional intelligence. You will be equally comfortable analyzing ambiguous business problems, developing recommendations, facilitating senior-level discussions, and rolling up your sleeves to drive execution.
Workplace: Hybrid schedule requiring in-office presence Tuesday through Thursday at the Seattle office, with flexibility to work remotely Monday and Friday. Candidates must reside within reasonable commuting distance.
