Cohere is hiring a Chief of Staff to lead operational excellence across its AI organization. You will report to the Chief AI Officer and serve as the connective tissue between the AI org and the rest of the company, spanning research, modeling, product, delivery, security, sales, and operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Own the operating rhythm and planning: Drive annual and quarterly planning, goal-setting, and weekly/monthly business reviews. Manage budget and headcount planning, keeping both aligned as priorities shift.
Cross-functional coordination: Prevent major programs from colliding or stalling across research, modeling, product, delivery, and security. Be the go-to person for unclear ownership and trade-off navigation.
Bridge leadership and execution: Connect the Chief AI Officer's org with the broader company through cross-functional planning with product, engineering, security, and finance. Ensure commitments are realistic and dependencies are visible.
Special projects leadership: Own end-to-end initiatives that don't fit neatly on one team's plate—reorganizations, partnerships, flagship research events, org-wide planning weeks.
Operational excellence: Manage the planning calendar, budget, headcount, weekly business reviews, and communication strategy (internal and external). Set the operating rhythm through meetings, priorities, plans, and decisions.

Requirements:
- 12+ years of operating experience in an AI/ML organization, preferably in a Chief of Staff, business operations, or senior program-operations role
- Deep understanding of how AI works at a practitioner level: ability to discuss model-to-product translation, data requirements, and delivery challenges credibly
- Fluency in quantitative metrics: model performance, data pipeline throughput, budget-to-impact analysis
- Proven ability to partner with fast-shipping, high-stakes teams and pivot with agility
- Demonstrated skill in holding strategy and execution simultaneously
- Comfort with ambiguity, fast pace, and complex environments; ability to bring order without grinding momentum to a halt
- Outstanding communication skills: clear writing, straight talk, ability to influence teams, and executive presence for high-stakes conversations
- Track record of soft power and cross-functional influence
