Abode Money is an AI-powered financial home manager helping homeowners save on property taxes, insurance, mortgages, and related costs. The company has raised $23M from top-tier investors including Sequoia and Permanent Capital and is scaling rapidly across products, channels, and business lines.
As Chief of Staff, you'll work directly with the CEO on high-impact, unowned problems across the organization. The role spans three primary areas: (1) solving hard strategic problems like building a contractor network, brand positioning, and user experience gaps; (2) launching and scaling new initiatives including a nationwide insurance brokerage, PMI roll-off product, and ambassador programs; and (3) owning finance and operations including the outsourced controller relationship, budgeting, KPI tracking, and monthly close cadence.
You'll also manage legal and regulatory strategy, working with in-house and outside counsel on contracts, entity licensing, and compliance across all 50 states. This includes relationships with county assessors, state agencies, policy work in key markets, and diligence with banking and credit union partners.
Key responsibilities include: taking ambiguous questions and turning them into actionable recommendations; launching new business lines from zero and handing them off once established; owning P&L decisions; participating in board and investor conversations; writing decision-ready analysis; and operating as an extension of the CEO on whatever is most critical that week.
You'll need 8+ years of experience in consulting, banking, or similar analytical roles, plus real operating experience at a startup. Strong financial modeling, budgeting, and KPI management skills are essential. You should be comfortable with legal and regulatory detail, able to learn new domains quickly, and skilled at using AI to accelerate analysis and modeling. The role requires being based in Austin and working onsite. This is a high-autonomy position designed for someone who wants to build founder-level experience before starting their own company.
