Avela is a venture-backed edtech/govtech startup building the first common application system for PK-12 education. The company helps cities, school districts, and nonprofits create one-stop enrollment hubs where families can discover, navigate, and register for childcare, schools, summer camps, athletics, and other education and social programs.
As Charter Partnerships Manager, you will drive growth in the charter school sector as a full-stack sales executive. You'll own the entire sales cycle—from pipeline generation through deal close and customer handoff—working with charter school networks and CMOs to understand their enrollment and operational challenges.
Key responsibilities include: building target prospect lists using LinkedIn, RocketReach, and Clay; conducting outbound prospecting via email and cold calls; attending charter conferences and mining referral networks; scheduling and attending client meetings; demoing the product; building stakeholder relationships; understanding decision-making processes; submitting proposals and managing negotiations; handling contracting and procurement; and coordinating smooth handoffs to the customer success and implementation teams.
The ideal candidate has 4+ years of professional experience, with 2+ years in charter school administration (ideally at a large CMO or network) in roles such as CEO/Executive Director, Enrollment, Student Services, Accountability, or Operations. You should have deep empathy for charter school leaders' challenges, an entrepreneurial mindset, comfort with ambiguity, and excellent communication skills. Sales, partnerships, development, or fundraising experience is helpful, but the company prioritizes practitioners who have lived the charter school experience over traditional salespeople. You must be legally authorized to work in the US without sponsorship and live within 1 hour of the Boston hub.
