PhysicsX is a physics AI company for industrials, building a simulation software stack that combines deep physics AI with CAE to accelerate hardware innovation. The company partners with leading organizations in aerospace & defence, automotive, semiconductors, materials, and energy & renewables.
As a CFD Engineer (Delivery), you will work at the intersection of computational fluid dynamics and machine learning, partnering with data scientists, ML engineers, and customers to solve complex engineering challenges. You will independently build high-fidelity multi-physics models from geometry cleanup and meshing through simulation and post-processing, integrating experimental data for validation. You'll create robust parametric CAD models coupled with simulation pipeline automation to execute advanced design optimization and design-of-experiments studies.
Key responsibilities include:
- Building complex multi-physics CFD models independently, handling geometry preparation, meshing, simulation, and post-processing of real-world phenomena
- Developing parametric CAD models (NX or CATIA) with automated simulation pipelines for design optimization
- Partnering directly with customers (often on-site) to address complex engineering challenges, presenting results clearly and recommending actionable next steps
- Generating high-quality simulation datasets for training machine learning and deep learning models, using data sampling techniques to optimize design space coverage and reduce computational cost
- Leveraging Flux (the company's cloud platform) and on-premise HPC resources to accelerate high-fidelity modelling
- Contributing to continuous improvement of engineering best practices and adapting CFD outputs to support deep learning surrogate development
- Mentoring junior colleagues and contributing to a collaborative culture
- Traveling globally (North America, Europe, Asia, Oceania) up to 2–3 weeks per quarter for on-site customer work
The role offers growth opportunities as an Individual Contributor or Team Lead as you take on more complex projects.
Company offers equity options, 5% 401(k) contribution, free team lunch weekly, private health insurance, enhanced parental leave (3 months paternity / 6 months maternity at full pay), 20 days annual leave plus public holidays, personal development support, subsidized Gympass/Wellhub, and flexible spending account.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 3–5 years of industry experience post-Masters or PhD in a commercial, non-research environment
- Deep expertise in fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and multiphase modelling
- High proficiency in at least one of: Star-CCM+, OpenFOAM, or Fluent
- Ability to independently set up CFD simulations and interpret complex results with solid engineering judgement
- Experience automating CFD tools to create scalable optimization workflows
- Experience with parametric CAD modelling (NX or CATIA)
- Coding ability in Python/Java (or ability to quickly learn programming languages)
