Helsing is a defense AI company building AI systems that operate in real-world field conditions. As a Camera Engineer, you will own the complete imaging stack—from optical design through data pipeline—that feeds the company's AI with high-quality, precisely timed sensor data. Your responsibilities span the full lifecycle: translating mission requirements into concrete specifications for lenses, sensors, and data pipelines; selecting and integrating lens and sensor combinations while managing trade-offs between optical performance and algorithm requirements; writing FPGA firmware to handle high-speed sensor interfaces and hardware-based synchronization; and driving the manufacturing lifecycle by working directly with external partners to move designs from prototype to operational deployment. You will work within a multidisciplinary team spanning optical physics, electrical engineering, and computer vision. This is not a research role—the systems you design have real-world operational consequence and will be deployed in the field under genuine constraints. The role requires deep expertise in imaging systems architecture, sensor selection and characterization, FPGA/hardware design, and the ability to bridge optical physics with AI/computer vision requirements. You will see your designs move from concept through prototype to live deployment.
