Gusto is seeking a licensed Property & Casualty (P&C) Insurance Broker to join a critical pilot launching a P&C broker model. You will act as a licensed agent to quote and issue business insurance policies with NEXT Insurance, providing direct support to small business customers with complex insurance needs. This role is essential to evolving Gusto's business insurance channel, capturing higher revenue, and training an AI Insurance Advisor called Gus through human-in-the-loop workflows.
Day-to-day responsibilities include:
- Making outbound dials to prospective and existing small business clients to assess P&C insurance needs and recommend suitable coverage options
- Quoting and issuing Property & Casualty policies, primarily with NEXT Insurance
- Meeting daily, weekly, and monthly sales activity expectations
- Providing human-in-the-loop support to optimize the AI Insurance Advisor and assisting customers with complex needs
- Maintaining client relationships, managing policy renewals, and facilitating changes or endorsements
- Acting as a trusted liaison between clients and carriers, including assisting with loss reports and claims settlement
- Cross-selling and up-selling additional P&C lines of coverage to achieve monthly production goals
- Maintaining accurate client records and policy documentation in CRM systems (Salesforce)
- Using AI-powered workflows as a core part of daily work, identifying friction and inefficiencies, and collaborating on product improvements
- Staying current on industry trends, products, regulations, and underwriting guidelines

Hybrid work expectations: Employees based in Denver will work from the office approximately 2-3 days per week. Remote employees in Atlanta and Phoenix must maintain a secure, reliable, and consistent internet connection.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 4+ years of proven experience in insurance sales or brokerage with coverage-level knowledge of commercial P&C products (Workers' Compensation, BOP, Commercial Auto, E&O)
- Active Property & Casualty insurance producer's license (required)
- Excellent verbal and written communication, active listening, and strong interpersonal skills
- Strong sales and negotiation abilities with proven ability to meet sales targets
- Working knowledge of carrier quoting systems, proficiency in insurance software, and familiarity with CRM systems like Salesforce
- Comfortable using AI tools and automation to enhance productivity, decision-making, and problem-solving
- Demonstrated passion for delivering excellent customer experience and genuine empathy for small business owners
- Highly self-motivated, goal-oriented, and entrepreneurial ownership mentality
- Proven, day-to-day experience integrating AI into work across writing, research, prep, and summarization, with track record of giving clear, useful feedback to improve tools and processes
