Runwise is a Series B climate-tech startup that controls and optimizes key energy systems (heating, water, etc.) in 8,000+ buildings across the US. The company's hardware and software service significantly reduces energy usage, lowering costs and carbon output—equivalent to removing 100,000 cars' worth of emissions annually. As a Business Development Representative, you will own a portfolio of approximately 150 of the largest real estate companies in the US. About half are existing Runwise customers; the other half are net-new prospects. Working closely with a Senior Account Executive who specializes in the real estate industry, you will identify expansion opportunities with current customers and pursue new business growth. Your responsibilities include analyzing business cases, formulating compelling pitches, locating key decision-maker contacts using data tools, and conducting outreach via calls, emails, and creative tactics. You will support the sales pipeline by generating professional presentations and proposals on tight deadlines, ensuring deals move efficiently through the funnel. Success requires mastery of CRM systems (Salesforce), automated email platforms (Outreach), lead-generation tools, city databases, and Excel. The ideal candidate is goal-oriented, thinks creatively, presents professionally, and stays highly organized. You excel at strategic prospecting, breaking into complex organizations, and tailoring solutions to drive decisions. You can seamlessly switch between calls, strategy work, and administrative tasks while maintaining momentum. Runwise offers a hybrid work environment with in-office presence in Chicago, flexible PTO, medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA/FSA options, paid parental leave, 401(k), commuter benefits, and professional development through monthly L&D sessions. The role provides the opportunity to work alongside the co-founder and sales leader while making a tangible environmental impact. QUALIFICATIONS: - 3–5 years of experience as an SDR, Account Manager, or Account Executive - Exceptional oral and written communication skills with strong listening ability and energetic phone presence - Demonstrated ability to connect with senior-level decision makers and build compelling business cases - Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment - Proficiency with LinkedIn, Google Suite, and CRM applications (Salesforce experience preferred) - High integrity and commitment to building a successful company
