incident.io is an AI-powered software reliability platform trusted by engineering teams at Netflix, Etsy, and 2,000+ companies globally. The company has raised $96 million from Index Ventures, Insight Partners, and Point Nine and is in rapid growth mode.
As a Business Development Representative, you'll be the foundation of the GTM engine, learning to sell from experienced practitioners while representing a product and account team that make every conversation valuable. The role centers on cold calling—the fastest way to build real trust with prospects. Unlike template-driven outreach, every call and piece of outreach is backed by careful research and planning alongside Account Executives, ensuring prospects recognize genuine, personalized engagement.
Day-to-day responsibilities include:
- Conducting targeted cold outreach and phone calls to build prospect pipelines
- Researching and planning calls with AEs to ensure every conversation is informed and relevant
- Writing compelling outreach that prospects actually want to open and reply to
- Learning to understand prospect pain points (e.g., what keeps a VP of Engineering up at night)
- Testing, measuring, and optimizing your own workflow like an engineer would
- Collaborating with the wider GTM team to keep the sales engine strong
The company was founded by engineers and emphasizes a data-driven, optimization-focused approach to sales. BDRs have unlimited access to Claude AI tokens and work under a head of business development with RevOps background, creating a culture of testing and iteration rather than script repetition. The path to Account Executive is real and can move faster than typical for those who demonstrate strong performance.
incident.io values startup agility, genuine curiosity about people, resilience in the face of rejection, and a willingness to tackle challenging problems. The company offers meaningful equity, competitive benefits including private medical insurance, enhanced pension, generous parental leave, first Friday of each month off, £1,000 setup budget, and £500 annual professional development budget.
Requirements:
- Strong intrinsic motivation and clear personal "why" for pursuing this role
- Comfort with cold calling and resilience to rejection
- Genuine curiosity about people and their business challenges
- Strong written communication skills for outreach
- Willingness to tackle challenging problems over easy routes
- Comfort with AI tools and continuous workflow optimization
- Ability to thrive in startup environments with changing priorities
