Evervault provides online card payment infrastructure to companies building card payments into their products, as well as sophisticated merchants managing payment routing in-house. The company is extending its core encryption technology to secure sensitive data across banking, healthcare, identity, crypto, and other use cases, with a mission to become the clearinghouse for sensitive data.
This Business Development Representative role focuses on identifying and engaging technical decision-makers (CTOs, CPOs, VPs of Product Engineering, founders) at 100–5,000 person companies during moments of genuine need. Success is measured by generating 16 qualified opportunities per quarter and becoming a subject matter expert in the card payments domain.
Key responsibilities include:
• Signal-Based Prospecting: Track moments that create demand for card infrastructure—such as companies adding a second payment service provider, expanding geographically, launching card issuing or embedded payments, hiring payments engineers, or undergoing PCI DSS audits.
• Payments-Led Research: Map target accounts' payment stacks (processors, vaults, checkout, 3DS providers) and identify pain points like PCI compliance burden, vendor lock-in, declining authorization rates, or rising fraud and chargeback exposure.
• Relevant Outreach: Engage technical buyers via calls, email, LinkedIn, and warm introductions with messaging tied to outcomes they care about—reducing PCI burden, owning card data for processor flexibility, improving authorization rates, and reducing fraud.
• Cold Calling: Run consistent call blocks into target accounts to start conversations with technical buyers and understand their current card data handling.
• Domain Expertise: Build working knowledge of card payments (tokenization, payment orchestration, network tokens, 3DS, PCI DSS v4.0, card network rules) to hold credible conversations with technical executives.
• Community & Events: Build relationships in fintech and payments communities; convert in-person events and meetups into pipeline in target markets.
• Partner-Sourced Pipeline: Work with VCs, payment service providers, consultants, and complementary vendors to source warm introductions.
• Pipeline Handoff: Qualify opportunities and hand them to Account Executives with clear context on prospect stack, pain points, and timing.
Requirements:
• 1–2 years of BDR experience, preferably selling API-based solutions to technical personas
• Track record of research-heavy, personalized outreach over high-volume activities
• Understanding of pain points for companies processing high volumes of card transactions
• Genuine curiosity about connecting business payment problems to technical solutions
