theCut is a barbershop platform experiencing rapid growth driven by word-of-mouth and product excellence. They are seeking a Business Development Manager to drive new revenue streams beyond their core subscription and payments business, with the goal of scaling from hundreds of thousands to millions of users.
In this full-cycle role, you will own the complete business development process: sourcing, pitching, negotiating, closing, and handoff to delivery. You are not feeding someone else's pipeline—you build and own it end-to-end. The work spans two equally weighted areas: Brand Partnerships & Advertising Sales, and Corporate Business Development.
Key responsibilities include:
- Building and owning pipeline across all revenue lanes
- Researching prospects and developing business cases for partnerships
- Leading pitches and negotiating terms from initial contact through signed agreement
- Collaborating with Design and Marketing to create media kits, decks, and custom proposals aligned with theCut's brand
- Pricing and packaging inventory; helping define rate cards where they don't yet exist
- Managing post-close handoff and renewal relationships
- Maintaining CRM hygiene and reporting pipeline accurately
- Representing theCut at industry events and brand-side meetings
You should have 3–6 years of experience in business development, partnerships, or media sales with demonstrated closed deals. You excel at building pipeline from scratch rather than inheriting it, communicate clearly in writing and verbally, and work independently without a playbook. Deep familiarity with barbershop culture and the creator/brand ecosystem is essential. Bonus: existing relationships on the brand or agency side.
theCut offers comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, and vision insurance, student loan repayment, 401(k), unlimited PTO, health and wellness stipend, free lunch and snacks, company swag, and free haircuts.
