The Wallet, Payments, and Commerce team at Apple is seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to drive merchant and customer adoption of Apple Pay eCommerce across Australia and New Zealand. This role focuses on expanding Apple Pay share with existing merchants through UX optimization, conversion optimization, new feature adoption, and merchant marketing initiatives.
You will work closely with Apple Pay business leaders, marketing, product teams, Developer Relations, and other business development teams to execute strategies and close deals that impact core business metrics. The position requires building and sustaining strong relationships across the e-commerce value chain, with deep understanding of online payment ecosystems, fraud and acceptance risks, conversion challenges, and emerging mobile payment technologies.
Key responsibilities include:
- Identifying and creating strategic pipelines of merchant optimizations with scalable approaches
- Navigating partner landscapes to identify key decision makers and negotiate deal terms
- Participating in cross-functional teams to define partners, product requirements, negotiation strategies, integration plans, and go-to-market launch programs
- Managing partnerships to deliver new feature enhancements and ongoing support
- Providing regular communications to internal teams on partnership strategy and results
- Occasional regional travel as required
This is a full-time position based in Apple's Sydney office, covering ANZ, Southeast Asia, and Greater China regions.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum:
- 5+ years of relevant business development experience
- Bachelor's degree
Preferred:
- Ability to evangelize new payment products and technologies to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Experience identifying, navigating, and overcoming technical or systematic complexities to drive adoption
- Proven success executing high-impact deals with measurable business results
- Experience structuring and negotiating business and technical terms with strategic partners
- Direct experience promoting payment product acceptance across merchant segments, payment service providers, payment schemes, and processors
- Superior written and verbal communication skills
- Self-starter comfortable in fast-paced environments managing ambiguity
- Strategic thinker with strong judgment and executive presence
- Ability to initiate and drive projects to completion with minimal guidance
- Excellent time and project management skills
- Background in high-growth consumer internet/technology companies
