You will be the Brand Copy Lead, reporting to the Director of Brand Strategy & Narrative. This is a senior individual contributor role within the Brand Studio, sitting alongside brand strategy, design, brand marketing, and web teams. You'll craft Deepgram's brand voice across all channels during an active rebrand with a new verbal identity launching now.
Key responsibilities:
**Concept and Write Brand Campaigns:** Lead copy concepting from brief through final execution for major campaigns across out-of-home, audio/podcast, video, social, sponsorships, and brand activations. Develop multiple creative directions and articulate the strategic idea behind each. Partner with design from day one to ensure words and visuals land as one cohesive idea. Adapt campaigns for global markets while maintaining brand integrity.
**Bring Brand Voice to Life:** Own application of Deepgram's verbal identity across all brand surfaces—website, product launches, events, signage, ads, email, and internal communications. Write copy for voice literally (Deepgram's voice products). Contribute to naming for products, voices, programs, and campaigns.
**Set the Copy Bar:** Run brand copy review across the studio, providing edits that sharpen work without flattening it. Translate product and technical input into accurate, interesting copy. Evolve voice guidelines based on market learnings.
**Build the Copy Engine:** Lead with an AI-forward approach, using and building AI tools (voice copilots, prompt libraries, review workflows) to help the company write on-brand faster. Create playbooks, templates, checklists, and channel-specific copy specs to scale the team's output.
Deepgram operates with an AI-first mindset. All team members actively use and experiment with advanced AI tools, integrating them into daily workflows. The company moves at the pace of AI with rapid change and evolution expected.
**Requirements:**
- 6–8+ years of copywriting experience with significant time concepting brand campaigns
- Split experience between agency and in-house teams at fast-moving technology or consumer brands
- Portfolio demonstrating ideas and execution: campaign concepts, headlines, and lines in market (OOH, audio, or video work strongly preferred)
- Strategic thinking: ability to read briefs, interrogate them, and explain why your idea fits the audience and business
- Distinctive, quippy voice with range to write in different styles without losing brand identity
- Speed with quality: strong first rounds in tight timeframes while knowing when work needs more iteration
- Comfort translating technical products for multiple audiences (developers, enterprise buyers, influencers)
- Collaborative, low-ego approach to feedback
- Excellent judgment, taste, and point of view on brands and campaigns
**Bonus qualifications:**
- Experience writing for developer, AI, or technical brands
- Experience writing for voice (audio ads, scripts, conversational UI, voice assistants)
- Naming and verbal identity experience
- Experience writing for global or APAC markets
