Charm Industrial converts excess inedible biomass into carbon-rich bio-oil for permanent underground carbon removal, with a mission to return atmospheric CO₂ to 280 ppm. The company has scaled to thousands of tons of carbon removal, over 100 employees, and three operational locations (San Francisco, Colorado, and Louisiana), with early customers including Stripe, Shopify, and Microsoft.
As Biomass Partnerships & Sourcing Manager, you will own the front end of the supply chain in Colorado, securing biomass feedstock that powers Charm's pyrolyzers and carbon removal operations. You'll work on two primary fronts: reaching new forestry contractors and maintaining relationships with existing suppliers. You'll also serve as a liaison with local agencies involved in wildfire mitigation work, understanding their upcoming projects and biomass offtake challenges. Over time, you may expand to other regions as Charm identifies new markets.
Key responsibilities include:
- Opening new contractor and project supply in Colorado by reaching forestry contractors, building pipelines with land managers, counties, conservation districts, utilities, and fire collaboratives. You'll track RFPs, RFQs, and grant cycles (FRWRM, CWDG, COSWAP) and position Charm as a biomass partner.
- Turning relationships into signed supply agreements, purchase agreements, project appendices, and LOIs with contractors, agencies, and landowners. You'll structure pricing, material specs, haul terms, and volume commitments that work operationally.
- Managing day-to-day supplier relationships with regular engagement cadence, tracking project status, timing, forecasts, equipment delays, and delivery tickets for every contracted Colorado supplier.
- Supporting federal, state, and local agency engagement through status updates, meetings, and field tours.
- Coordinating closely with Charm's logistics team, sharing project timing, pickup windows, and volume forecasts to enable effective hauling and site storage planning.
- Owning evidence collection to ensure every tonne meets carbon-registry documentation standards. You'll collect sourcing and chain-of-custody evidence (forester affidavits, wood-tracking forms, non-merchantable material attestations, funding documentation) that meets the Isometric Biomass Feedstock Accounting Module. You'll build evidence requirements into supplier agreements, chase missing documents before shipment, and deliver complete evidence packages to the MRV team for registry submission.
- Traveling to new geographies as needed to understand emerging biomass landscapes.
The role is hybrid with regular time at the Fort Lupton site, regular in-state field travel, and periodic trips to other expansion regions. You should expect up to 30% travel.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Experience in supply chain, procurement, forestry, wildfire mitigation program work, natural resource partnerships, or agricultural products.
- Credibility with land managers and contractors; comfort in both county commissioners' meetings and on forestry landings with active equipment.
- Hands-on contracting experience: you've drafted or negotiated supply agreements, purchase agreements, MOUs, or partnership agreements.
- Discipline with CRM, documentation, and follow-through. You'll own affidavits and chain-of-custody records for suppliers and must be comfortable learning technical protocols well enough to spot gaps before auditors do.
- Commercial judgment on price, volume, and risk, including recognizing when a partner's timeline or scope puts supply at risk.
- Enthusiasm for building new supply chains where no biomass market exists yet, and comfort with ambiguity in a fast-moving startup.
- Valid driver's license and comfort with up to 30% travel.
BONUS QUALIFICATIONS:
- MRV or carbon-registry experience, especially biomass sourcing, chain-of-custody, or sustainability criteria (Isometric, Puro, Verra, or similar).
- Existing relationships in Colorado's wildfire mitigation ecosystem: CSFS, conservation districts, fireshed collaboratives, or Front Range forestry contractors.
- Experience sourcing sawmill residuals, pellet or biomass-power feedstock, or agricultural residues.
- Working knowledge of how fuels treatments get funded and contracted (grants, stewardship and timber sale contracts, Good Neighbor Authority, public bids).
- Forestry degree, forester credential, or GIS skills for mapping supply.
- Bulk material logistics experience: trucking, chipping, moisture, and storage.
