Impulse is seeking an Avionics Manufacturing Engineer to design and optimize manufacturing processes for electromechanical assemblies destined for space applications. You will own the build and acceptance testing of complex assemblies including circuit boards, antennas, battery packs, reaction wheels, and enclosures. Your work will directly impact the reliability and performance of systems sent into orbit.
Key responsibilities include:
- Develop, document, and optimize manufacturing processes for electromechanical assemblies
- Collaborate with avionics design engineers to ensure manufacturability and design-for-manufacturing/assembly (DFM/DFA) principles
- Work with cross-functional teams on quality and long-term reliability
- Provide day-to-day production floor support, resolving build issues, updating work instructions, and improving yield
- Provide guidance and mentorship to electromechanical assembly technicians
- Own environmental and functional acceptance testing of electromechanical assemblies, including vibration and TVAC (thermal vacuum) testing
- Set up, operate, and troubleshoot hardware acceptance testing (ATP) in a fast-paced environment
- Work with electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, bills of materials, and assembly documentation
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field
- 4+ years of demonstrated experience in high-precision electromechanical manufacturing
- 4+ years of experience with acceptance testing of circuit boards and electromechanical assemblies, including vibration testing, TVAC testing, and software testing
- Hands-on experience with hardware ATP, troubleshooting, and operation in a fast-paced environment
- Experience with electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, bills of materials, and assembly documentation
- Experience using NX and Teamcenter CAD/PLM software
