Convene Hospitality Group is seeking an experienced AV Supervisor to join the Operations team at Quorum by Convene (1221 Avenue of the Americas, NYC). This full-time role reports to the Senior Technology Manager and works closely with the General Manager and Regional AV Manager to oversee day-to-day AV operations and strategy at a flagship event venue.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee setup, strike, and execution of AV program details; delegate instructions to technology team members and temporary staff
- Manage equipment maintenance, inventory, and storage; determine weekly labor and equipment needs
- Ensure completion of assigned tasks by technology specialists and labor vendors
- Maintain communication with onsite and regional leadership; perform daily, weekly, and monthly checklists
- Build positive relationships with clients and staff through effective communication
- Provide in-depth troubleshooting and consultative support to clients of varying technical competency
- Coordinate with clients and internal stakeholders pre-program to ensure all technological needs are met
- Assist in broader daily operations as needed
Training & Development:
- Mentor Technology Specialists to maintain consistent customer service standards
- Participate in hiring recommendations and interview processes for department positions
- Cross-train in other conference center areas; develop employee relations and coaching skills
- Stay current on industry trends through benchmarking, trade publications, and conferences
- Review and update departmental SOPs quarterly
Technical Qualifications:
- Audio: 4-24 channel analog/digital mixers, wireless microphone systems, Biamp Tesira
- Video: Switchers, projectors, LCD displays, LED video walls, Crestron DM/NVX systems
- Lighting: Up lights, GOBOs, basic dimming
- IT: Wi-Fi troubleshooting, hardline internet, DHCP/Static IP addressing, video codec operation
- Control: Familiarity with Crestron control systems
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to move and set/strike equipment up to 50 lbs without assistance
- Reach overhead and below knees; bend, twist, pull, stoop
- Stand, sit, or walk for extended periods
- Flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and occasional long hours
