The Associate Product Manager (APM) is a developmental product-management role with real ownership of smaller, well-defined product problems and initiatives. You will work independently on assigned workstreams while receiving coaching and strategic direction from a Senior Product Manager or Product Leader.
Key Responsibilities:
Product Ownership & Delivery: Own product initiatives, improvements, and IDV (identity verification) workstreams from discovery through launch and post-launch measurement. Translate user, customer, operational, and technical needs into clear product briefs, requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria. Partner with Design and Engineering to evaluate solution options and ensure work is ready for development. Participate in planning, refinement, demos, and retrospectives. Coordinate product acceptance testing and prepare release notes and enablement materials. Own post-launch follow-up and recommend iteration or remediation based on results.
Discovery & Problem Solving: Investigate customer, applicant, and operational problems using quantitative data, qualitative feedback, and workflow observation. Investigate product-health issues such as failed transactions, low completion rates, and workflow friction. Conduct customer, market, and competitor research and synthesize findings into recommendations. Create user journeys, process flows, or prototypes to improve shared understanding. Use AI tools to accelerate research, synthesis, analysis, and requirements development. Build understanding of background-check fulfillment and IDV workflows, including third-party data sources and operational dependencies.
Product Performance & Prioritization: Use product and operational data to understand performance and support prioritization. Define and monitor success measures for assigned initiatives. Identify opportunities to improve automation, completion rates, turnaround time, reliability, and gross margin. Contribute evidence and recommendations to roadmap planning.
Other Responsibilities: Build effective working relationships across Product, Design, Engineering, Operations, Compliance, Customer Support, and GTM. Work with external data providers and technology vendors. Coordinate stakeholder testing and communicate decisions, risks, and progress clearly. Escalate material risks and unresolved trade-offs with clear recommendations.
