Vir Biotechnology, a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company, is seeking an Associate Director for Research Strategic Planning and Operations (ReSPO). Reporting to the Senior Director of ReSPO, you will serve as a strategic partner to the Research organization, driving integrated planning, cross-functional collaboration, and operational excellence across partnered and internal research programs spanning discovery through early clinical development.
In this role, you will lead research program execution by partnering with Research Leads, Project Team Leads, and functional representatives to manage complex, multi-disciplinary initiatives. You will develop and maintain comprehensive project plans including timelines, milestones, risks, assumptions, and dependencies. You will facilitate cross-functional project team meetings to ensure alignment on objectives, priorities, and deliverables, and proactively track program progress while identifying, communicating, and mitigating risks that could impact timelines or outcomes.
You will support program governance activities including preparation of materials for portfolio reviews, stage gates, and leadership discussions. Your responsibilities extend to broader Research operations and strategic initiatives, where you will contribute to operational excellence and help ensure successful progression of research assets toward development.
The ideal candidate is a highly collaborative, proactive, and independent leader with strong scientific acumen, excellent communication skills, and demonstrated experience managing complex cross-functional programs in biotechnology or pharmaceutical research environments. You will be expected to work 4 days per week in the San Francisco headquarters office.
