The Nuclear Company is a Series A-funded startup pioneering AI-enabled nuclear reactor design and deployment through a fleet-scale, design-once-build-many approach. The Assistant Controller will be a critical hands-on member of the finance team, reporting directly to the Controller and playing a key role in daily accounting operations and financial reporting.
Key responsibilities include managing month-end and year-end close processes, preparing accurate financial statements (balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements), and overseeing general ledger reconciliations. The role involves reviewing accounts payable and accounts receivable, ensuring accuracy of complex journal entries, and managing accruals and balance sheet reconciliations. You will support the accounting and reporting needs of the company's growing nuclear services business segment.
Additionally, the Assistant Controller will help maintain and enforce effective internal controls across accounting operations, support documentation and testing of controls for regulatory compliance, and provide supporting data and analysis for annual budgeting and forecasting activities. This is a hybrid role based out of either the Washington, DC or Columbia, SC office. Candidates should be within commuting distance of one of these locations or open to relocation.
