Legora, a Series C legal AI software company with $100M+ ARR and 1,000+ customers globally, is seeking an Assistant Controller to lead and scale global accounting operations during its next growth phase. This is a hands-on leadership role overseeing Corporate Accounting, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and Payroll across multiple entities and geographies.
You will manage the operational accounting leadership team (Accounting Manager, AP Manager, AR Manager, payroll managers, and offshore team members), serving as the first escalation point for day-to-day accounting questions. Key responsibilities include leading the monthly close and consolidation, managing intercompany and international accounting, strengthening the internal control environment (including SOX readiness), and operationalizing accounting policies across the business.
A significant focus will be designing and executing scalable accounting processes that improve accuracy and reduce manual effort in a high-growth SaaS environment. You'll identify and implement workflow improvements and AI automation opportunities across the accounting operations lifecycle, partnering with Technical Accounting on new standards implementation.
You bring 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including a foundation in public accounting (Big 4 or equivalent) and in-house experience at a high-growth or multinational company. You hold a CPA, ACA, or equivalent qualification, with hands-on experience running multi-entity closes, consolidations, intercompany accounting, and FX management. You have strong knowledge of US GAAP, experience being audited, and a systems orientation with ERP implementation or migration experience preferred.
Nice-to-have qualifications include pre-IPO or public company experience with SOX readiness, M&A integration experience, SaaS revenue model knowledge, and experience deploying automation or AI tooling. The role is based in Legora's Union Square office in New York with a collaborative, in-person environment.
