Scopely is assembling a team for an unannounced mobile game title in early development, based in Shanghai (5 days in office). As Art Director, you will partner with the Global Senior Art Director to execute the visual vision and quality standards for mobile game features, events, and content.
Key responsibilities include leading artistic development of game features from concept through final implementation; serving as the primary art liaison with external IP partners, presenting work for review and facilitating approvals; creating, reviewing, and providing feedback on art assets to ensure consistency and brand adherence; acting as the art representative on cross-functional feature teams (Design, Product, Engineering, UX); establishing visual targets and best practices; supervising outsource vendors; organizing and leading art reviews and creative discussions; improving workflows and pipelines in partnership with Technical Art and Engineering; identifying creative risks and opportunities; and contributing directly to production as needed.
You bring 6+ years of experience in game development, visual design, or related creative fields, with proven leadership of art production for shipped games, live-service products, or major features. You have strong artistic fundamentals (composition, color, visual hierarchy, player-focused design), ability to provide constructive feedback and mentor artists, and experience working cross-functionally throughout development. You are proficient with industry-standard tools including Maya and Unity 3D, possess 2D/3D generalist skills (modeling and rendering), and are fluent in English. Knowledge of game development pipelines, JIRA, GIT, and familiarity with top F2P mobile games are valued. A BA in studio art, computer graphics, or technical field is a plus.
