Anthropic is seeking an Applied AI Architect to serve as a pre-sales technical advisor focused on state and local government agencies. In this role, you will be the primary technical expert guiding customers through their Claude AI adoption journey—from initial discovery and evaluation through successful deployment and integration.
You will partner closely with account executives and internal teams (Sales, Product, Engineering) to understand complex government requirements and translate them into scalable, effective LLM solutions. Your responsibilities include:
- Conducting technical discovery with government agencies to understand mission-critical challenges and business objectives
- Serving as the trusted technical advisor throughout the customer lifecycle, coordinating across internal stakeholders to ensure successful outcomes
- Supporting customers building with Claude Code, the Claude API, and Claude for Enterprise
- Creating and delivering compelling technical content—from deep technical dives for engineering teams to business-value conversations with C-suite executives
- Guiding architecture decisions and helping customers integrate Claude into existing enterprise technology stacks
- Developing evaluation frameworks to measure Claude's performance for specific use cases
- Identifying common integration patterns and feeding insights back to Product and Engineering teams
- Traveling frequently to customer sites for workshops, technical deep dives, and relationship building
- Staying current with LLM capabilities and implementation best practices
You must have prior experience working with US federal, state, and/or local government agencies. You'll need 5+ years in technical customer-facing roles (Solutions Architect, Sales Engineer, Technical Account Manager) with proven ability to navigate complex multi-stakeholder buying cycles. Strong technical communication skills are essential—you must translate between engineering teams and executives seamlessly. Experience designing scalable cloud architectures, familiarity with Python, and knowledge of LLM frameworks or ML/data science backgrounds are valued. Above all, you should be passionate about safe, beneficial AI and excited about helping government agencies leverage AI to advance their missions.
