Scopely's in-house creative agency, Flamed, is seeking an experienced Animation Lead to join the Barcelona office on a hybrid basis (3 days/week in-office). This role will primarily focus on Monopoly GO!, one of the world's leading mobile games, directing and supervising the production of animated trailers, cinematics, user acquisition videos, and marketing content.
You will lead the animation and cinematic execution of marketing materials from brief through final delivery. Key responsibilities include supervising Storyboard Artists and Animators, providing creative direction and feedback throughout production, directing and reviewing storyboards and animatics for narrative clarity and strong composition, and supervising 3D layout and character animation to ensure polished, appealing performances.
You will work closely with Creatives to translate original ideas and objectives through production, perform asset checks during pre-production to identify required characters, props, environments and rigs, and coordinate dependencies across Animation, Assets, and Lighting teams. Collaboration is essential—you'll partner with Asset Leads, Lighting Leads, Motion Designer Leads, and external vendors to maintain consistent storytelling and animation quality across diverse projects.
The role involves identifying narrative, visual, technical, and production risks early and proposing practical solutions. While primarily a leadership and project direction role, you may contribute hands-on to Autodesk Maya layout or animation tasks when workload allows. You'll also research emerging AI tools and explore innovative workflows to support storyboarding, previs, layout, animation, and production planning.
Required: minimum 5 years professional experience in 3D animation, cinematics, advertising, games, feature animation, VFX, or related entertainment field. Previous experience as Lead Animator, Animation Director, Supervising Animator, or comparable leadership role. Strong portfolio demonstrating high-quality 3D character animation, cinematic storytelling, and animation direction. Advanced knowledge of Autodesk Maya and professional 3D animation workflows. Deep understanding of 3D character animation fundamentals including body mechanics, posing, acting, facial performance, timing, spacing, weight, and appeal.
