Variance is building AI agents for risk investigations, fraud detection, and identity reviews at scale. This Agent Product Manager role sits at the intersection of product strategy, customer engagement, and technical deployment, owning the end-to-end strategy for deploying Variance's AI agents across enterprise customers in high-consequence environments like marketplaces, gig platforms, fintechs, and financial institutions. You will partner directly with customer teams to understand their workflows, pain points, and decision-making processes—learning what they escalate, where they get stuck, and what they cannot afford to get wrong. Your core responsibilities include translating customer pain points into precise product requirements, building AI agents that integrate into fraud and risk workflows, and owning the customer relationship and deployment outcomes from pilot through production. Key responsibilities: (1) Understand customer workflows before building—map their investigation SOPs, due diligence obligations, and compliance requirements (KYC/KYB, BSA/AML, sanctions screening) into agent decision logic; (2) Own customer relationships and outcomes—define success metrics for each deployment and stay accountable through production; (3) Drive account expansion—leverage your knowledge of both customer roadmaps and Variance's capabilities to grow pilots into multi-year partnerships; (4) Shape the product roadmap—patterns you identify across accounts inform what Variance builds next, potentially defining roadmaps for entire industries. Example projects include translating investigation procedures into agent logic, mapping compliance obligations across jurisdictions into requirements, and designing human escalation paths for decisions the agent cannot make independently. You bring 5+ years in customer-facing technical roles (implementation consultant, solutions architect, product manager, or founder), with proven experience shipping 0→1 products and iterating on quality against real customer data. Bonus experience includes automating human review or investigation workflows, or deep knowledge of compliance frameworks. This is a foundational hire for the function, offering the opportunity to build and shape this capability from the ground up.
