Salary: USD 185,000 - 245,000 / annual
Affirm is reinventing credit to make it more honest and friendly, offering consumers flexible buy-now-pay-later options without hidden fees or compounding interest. The Finance team ensures Affirm remains financially sound and strategically positioned for growth, managing financial planning, accounting, pricing, vendor management, tax, investor relations, and corporate development.
Affirm Bank is in its formation phase and actively building its foundational team. As Bank Head of FP&A, you will report to the Bank CFO and play a central role in the formation and operational build-out of the Bank. You will build and lead the Bank's strategic finance team while managing core financial operations.
Key responsibilities include:
• Team Leadership & Talent Development: Build and lead the Bank strategic finance team, providing strategic direction, recruitment, and coaching as the function is established.
• Financial Planning & Analysis: Lead end-to-end forecasting and budget processes, ensuring alignment with organizational goals during this critical startup phase. Perform rigorous financial analysis to inform strategic decision-making.
• Financial Modeling: Develop and maintain complex financial models to support strategic planning, scenario analysis, and forecasting for the Bank.
• Capital Strategy: Oversee capital stress testing and ongoing monitoring. Partner cross-functionally to validate inputs, pressure-test key drivers, and ensure outputs reflect current business dynamics.
• Performance Management & Reporting: Monitor performance against forecasts, diagnose variances, identify root causes, and provide forward-looking insights to drive action.
• Strategic Decision Support: Provide decision support on strategic initiatives, evaluating trade-offs and P&L implications. Translate complex analyses into clear, executive-ready narratives that drive insight and align stakeholders.
• Cross-Functional Partnership: Partner closely with Affirm, Inc. cross-functional teams to integrate financial workflows.
Required qualifications: minimum 8+ years in analytical roles (strategic finance, consulting, data science, analytics) with demonstrated business impact; minimum 5 years of people management experience; proven ability to operate with ownership and influence in fast-paced, ambiguous environments; strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills; strong business judgment connecting detailed analyses to strategic context; experience partnering with senior stakeholders and influencing cross-functional decisions; financial modeling proficiency and working knowledge of modeling and data visualization tools. Fintech, lending, and payments business model experience preferred.
