Dominion Dynamics is seeking an Aerodynamics Engineer to lead aerodynamic performance and stability analysis through the high-subsonic to transonic flight envelope. You will own CFD work and aero database development that feeds flight dynamics and flight control system models, then validate predictions against real flight test telemetry.
Key responsibilities include running high-fidelity CFD simulations across subsonic and transonic regimes, building and maintaining linear and non-linear aero databases (lift, drag, pitching moment, control surface authority), diagnosing compressibility effects and shock wave formation, and deploying to ground test and flight test sites to monitor real-time performance. You will reduce flight test telemetry to validate and calibrate CFD, empirical, and wind tunnel models, then translate gaps into design iterations for the next vehicle build.
You'll work directly with Structures, Propulsion, Guidance/Navigation/Control (GNC), and Systems Engineering teams to resolve aero trades across disciplines rather than in isolation. This role requires hands-on experience with CFD solvers and grid generation tools, working command of compressible aerodynamics, and the ability to explain vehicle behavior differences across the flight envelope. You must be comfortable deploying to test facilities and flight test sites—this is not a desk-only role.
Required qualifications: Bachelor's or Master's in Aerospace, Aeronautical, or Mechanical Engineering; 3+ years of direct experience in aerodynamic design, CFD, and flight testing within defense, UAV, or tactical aircraft programs; proficiency with industry-standard CFD tools; advanced programming or AI skills for data reduction and automation; and experience reducing flight test telemetry to calibrate models.
Nice-to-have skills include wind tunnel test experience, GNC or flight control systems background, air data system or flight test instrumentation experience, and comfort iterating outer mold line and control surface geometry with rapid-prototyping teams. No defense background is required; the company values curiosity, hands-on capability, and drive to make an impact.
