Granted is building an AI-native patient financial operating system to help Americans navigate medical bills, fight claim denials, correct billing errors, and negotiate healthcare costs. Founded by a former Oscar Health leader, the company is seed-stage with $17M in funding from top-tier investors including Hugging Face, Rocket Money, and Forerunner Ventures. As Advocacy Operations Specialist, you will be the domain authority behind how Granted checks bills, negotiates them down, and scales advocacy operations. You'll sit between Product and Customer Experience teams, serving as the healthcare expert who translates medical billing knowledge into AI rules, playbooks, and product logic that improve outcomes across all cases. Your typical week breaks down as: bill review (~40%), advocacy quality assurance and escalation (~20%), operations and training (~20%), and product partnership (~20%). Key responsibilities include: - Review uploaded bills weekly to determine if they're lowerable, how, and with what confidence; use this analysis to tune the bill checker and intake systems - Own negotiation quality across open and closed cases by running weekly QA on Healthcare Advocate and AI-agent casework, identifying patterns, and converting insights into training - Serve as the escalation point for VIP, high-complexity, and specialized cases - Build playbooks, training materials, and onboarding programs that enable quality to scale as the HA team grows, including work on GrantCentral (internal case management tool) - Partner with Product as the domain owner on the AI bill analyzer - Ensure every feature touching HA workflows ships with accompanying training - Publish weekly reports on opportunities for the HA team - Translate user and advocate pain points from casework into roadmap input You'll work in Chelsea, NYC, in-office Monday through Thursday with Fridays remote. REQUIREMENTS: Must-haves: - 6+ years in health system revenue cycle, patient financial services, or payer operations - Deep knowledge of how bills are built and lowered: CPT/ICD-10/HCPCS coding, EOBs, denials and appeals, financial assistance policies, No Surprises Act rules, self-pay discounts - Real negotiation experience—you've sat across from providers or payers and moved numbers - Ability to explain your reasoning clearly enough that engineers can build it and advocates can use it - Experience writing training, playbooks, or QA programs that were actually adopted and used - Based in NYC and able to be in office Monday through Thursday Nice-to-haves: - Experience on both provider and payer sides of billing - Track record partnering with product or engineering on healthcare tooling or automation - Hands-on work with AI or agentic tools in billing, clinical, or ops contexts - Early-stage startup experience or building new functions inside large healthcare systems
