Somatus is a leading outcomes-driven care provider supporting individuals and communities with chronic conditions. This Accounting Manager role is responsible for technical accounting, financial reporting, audit readiness, and scalable accounting processes in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
Key responsibilities include owning monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities; serving as a technical accounting resource for revenue recognition (ASC 606), guarantee accounting (ASC 460), estimates, accruals, and complex transactions; preparing technical accounting memoranda and analyses for significant accounting matters; and partnering with Legal, Finance, FP&A, Operations, and business stakeholders to assess accounting implications of new or amended arrangements.
The role involves maintaining and enhancing chart of accounts structures, accounting policies, and close processes; designing and maintaining internal controls over assigned accounting processes in support of IPO/SOX readiness; developing reporting tools and analytics to improve financial visibility; and partnering with Finance Systems and IT to implement system enhancements.
Additional duties include driving process improvements for faster and more accurate close and reporting; developing and maintaining accounting policies, procedures, close calendars, and control documentation; preparing and supporting financial statement disclosures; serving as primary point of contact for audit requests; and reviewing work prepared by staff accountants while providing coaching and feedback.
This role is well-suited for a high-performing accounting professional with public accounting audit manager experience who wants to transition into an operating role with broad ownership across accounting close, technical accounting, financial reporting, audit support, controls, and process improvement. The ideal candidate is intellectually curious, detail-oriented, highly accountable, and capable of operating independently while collaborating cross-functionally.
