Salary: USD 130,000 - 150,000 / annual
Blockstream, a leading Bitcoin infrastructure company founded in 2014, is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to join its finance team during a critical growth phase. This role is central to preparing the company for public market readiness and managing enterprise-grade financial operations.
You will lead the month-end close process, overseeing preparation, coordination, and review of consolidated financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP. Key responsibilities include managing monthly general ledger reconciliations, preparing and analyzing financial statement fluctuation analyses on a month-over-month and quarter-over-quarter basis, and supporting the consolidation of foreign subsidiaries with intercompany eliminations.
A significant portion of this role involves coordinating with external auditors on PCAOB audits, including specialized procedures related to Bitcoin custody controls and blockchain reconciliations—a unique aspect of cryptocurrency accounting. You will support the design and implementation of internal controls, monitor quarterly compliance, and assist with SOX compliance initiatives, CECL modeling, and complex transactions including mergers, acquisitions, and debt/equity financing.
You'll also monitor new U.S. GAAP accounting pronouncements and lead implementation of applicable standards, ensuring the company maintains compliance with SEC regulations and financial reporting standards.
Required qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance with CPA certification, 5-7 years of relevant accounting experience with U.S. GAAP expertise, and strong knowledge of SEC regulations and financial reporting standards. Advanced Excel/Google Sheets proficiency and experience with NetSuite or similar ERP systems are essential. Preferred experience includes Big 4 or national firm background, fintech or financial services exposure, and prior SOX compliance work.
