Deepgram is the leading platform for Voice AI, providing real-time APIs for speech-to-text, text-to-speech, and voice agents at scale. The company has processed over 50,000 years of audio and serves 200,000+ developers and 1,300+ organizations including Twilio, Cloudflare, and Jack in the Box. Backed by Series C funding, Deepgram is scaling toward its first external audit and public markets. You will join a lean finance team as Accounting Manager, GL & Close, reporting directly to the Chief Accounting Officer and transitioning to report to the Senior Director of Accounting once that role is filled. This is a hands-on role where you own the most technically complex and judgmental areas of the monthly close—stock-based compensation, leases, capitalized software, payroll accruals, intercompany and foreign currency transactions—while reviewing and coaching the Senior Accountant on established areas like fixed assets, prepaids, and recurring accruals. Key responsibilities include: driving critical-path close workstreams to completion; preparing complex, judgment-heavy schedules defensible to auditors; reviewing work prepared by the Senior Accountant and offshore team; owning consolidation, close packages, and narrative flux analysis; managing and developing the accounting team; supporting the first external audit through PBC package preparation and auditor walkthroughs; designing SOX-compliant close controls; leading the ERP migration off Xero; and rebuilding close processes around AI automation—reconciliation matching, anomaly detection, schedule generation, and workflow automation. This is a build role, not a maintain role. You'll inherit a startup close and transform it to survive external audit, ERP migration, and SOX compliance on a deliberately lean team. The company operates with an AI-first mindset; you're expected to actively use and integrate advanced AI tools into your workflows and rebuild work around them, not just use AI on the side. Required: 6+ years of progressive accounting experience with hands-on ownership of technical close areas and real experience reviewing another accountant's work. Active CPA preferred; Big 4 or national firm foundation a plus. Deep operational US GAAP fluency required, especially in complex areas like capitalization, stock compensation, and lease accounting.
