Quantum Space is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to lead accounting operations for a fast-growing aerospace and defense company operating as a government contractor in a publicly traded environment. This is a hands-on management role combining detailed monthly close responsibilities with strategic accounting and compliance oversight.
Key responsibilities include leading monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes; managing project accounting activities including contract setup, revenue recognition, and labor distribution; ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP, SEC reporting requirements (10-Q, 10-K), and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) internal control standards. You will oversee government contracting compliance including FAR, CAS, and DCAA requirements, manage indirect cost pools and provisional rate analysis, and support incurred cost submissions and government audits.
The role requires coordinating with internal and external auditors, maintaining strong controls over labor charging and project accounting, and partnering with program managers, FP&A, contracts, and executive leadership on financial reporting. You will identify process improvements, mentor accounting team members, support technical accounting research, and assist with M&A, financing, and system implementation initiatives.
Required qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; 7+ years progressive accounting experience in government contracting; strong U.S. GAAP and financial reporting knowledge; working knowledge of SEC reporting and SOX 404 requirements; deep understanding of government contracting accounting, indirect rates, and cost accounting. Preferred: 2+ years accounting management/supervisory experience; experience with publicly traded companies; project-based accounting and ASC 606 revenue recognition expertise.
