Remote is a global employment platform that helps businesses recruit, pay, and manage international teams compliantly. The Finance team covers Tax, Accounting, Treasury, Strategic Finance, Investor Relations, and M&A, ensuring the company's financial health and supporting growth across all operating regions.
As an Accountant, you'll join the Finance, Tax & Accounting team and support core accounting operations for the EMEA region (Spain, Portugal). You'll report to the Manager of Accounting and Controls and work within a distributed, asynchronous team across 6 continents.
Key responsibilities include:
- Posting transactions in SAP and reconciling sub-ledgers (AP, AR, Fixed Assets, Bank, Intercompany)
- Recording and reconciling payroll for various countries
- Supporting month-end and year-end close processes
- Performing monthly balance sheet reconciliation and variance analysis
- Ensuring compliance with local statutory requirements (VAT returns, CIT returns, statutory filings)
- Contributing to statutory close and financial statement preparation
- Performing analysis and supporting ad-hoc projects
You'll need a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance with post-qualification accounting experience. Required skills include proficiency in SAP (or similar ERP systems), strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills, GAAP compliance knowledge, and excellent financial analysis abilities. The role emphasizes automation and AI fluency as core competencies, reflecting Remote's innovation-focused culture. You must be fluent in English, detail-oriented, capable of managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment, and able to work independently with minimal supervision. Remote work experience is a plus but not required.
