Distro is seeking an Account Manager to oversee and manage assigned client relationships in the employee benefits and group benefits space. This role bridges sales, implementation, and ongoing account management, requiring deep expertise in benefits administration, compliance, and carrier negotiations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate implementation for new and renewing client accounts, working cross-functionally with sales and support teams
- Conduct strategy meetings and manage document collection with business consultants
- Analyze, market, and negotiate benefits and rates across all coverage types
- Lead pre-renewal and renewal meetings (in-person and virtual) with clients
- Negotiate renewals with carriers and quote open market options when needed
- Manage benefit administration portals and ensure timely submissions (minimum 15 days pre-effective date)
- Perform first-bill audits and host post-open-enrollment meetings
- Maintain high customer retention and satisfaction through relationship-building with key contacts
- Deliver 24-hour response times to client requests; provide status updates if resolution extends beyond 24 hours
- Ensure client compliance with benefits, contributions, and COBRA requirements
- Educate clients and key contacts on benefits and compliance matters
- Build and maintain relationships across internal teams and external partners
- Attend webinars and training to stay current on industry best practices
The role demands strong organizational skills, the ability to multitask under tight deadlines, and excellent written and verbal communication. You'll work in a primarily sedentary, office-based environment with occasional travel for client meetings. High attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and cultural sensitivity are essential.
Requirements:
- 2–5 years of relevant experience (or equivalent combination of skills, education, certifications, or job training)
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- Health and Life Insurance License mandatory
- Intermediate or higher proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe
- Knowledge of employee benefits, compliance, and payroll
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret SBC documents, technical procedures, insurance regulations, and governmental regulations
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to handle sensitive inquiries and complaints professionally
