Cowboy Space Corp. is building orbital infrastructure to power and connect the space economy. Founded in 2024 by Baiju Bhatt (Robinhood co-founder) and backed by leading investors, the company operates satellites in Low Earth Orbit to collect sunlight, enable on-orbit compute, transmit energy via infrared lasers, and deliver secure optical data. The team comes from top aerospace and defense organizations and is moving quickly to solve complex technical challenges. As Wiring Harness Engineer, you will own the end-to-end cable harness architecture, design, routing, and manufacturing processes for spacecraft platforms. This is a hands-on technical role with high ownership over harness design, prototyping, testing, and flight integration. Key responsibilities include: owning the technical roadmap and architecture for electrical and optical harnessing across all spacecraft platforms; creating detailed harness schematics, routing diagrams, 3D CAD models, and manufacturing drawings; designing robust cable harness assemblies meeting strict mass, volume, and thermal constraints; selecting space-rated connectors, wire types, and shielding materials; defining and leading comprehensive electrical harness testing protocols to validate flight readiness; leading prototype assembly and environmental testing (vibration, thermal vacuum); collaborating with mechanical and optical teams on clearance and mechanical interface compatibility; and supporting integration and test campaigns on the manufacturing floor and during final spacecraft assembly. You will design hardware that survives harsh launch vibrations and thermal vacuum conditions in space, working closely with avionics, mechanical, and optical teams to route power, high-speed data, and optical signals reliably through tight spacecraft volumes. Required qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace Engineering, or related technical discipline; 2+ years designing and routing complex wire harness assemblies for aerospace, defense, or high-reliability hardware; proficiency with 3D CAD software (NX, CATIA, SolidWorks) and dedicated harness routing modules; experience creating detailed manufacturing drawings, flat patterns, and engineering bills of materials; hands-on experience building, prototyping, and troubleshooting wire harnesses or mechanical assemblies. Preferred qualifications: 5+ years aerospace/defense harness design experience; Altium Designer familiarity; knowledge of NASA-STD-8739.4 or IPC-WHMA-A-620 space addendum; EMI/EMC shielding and grounding expertise; experience with environmental test cycles (vibration, shock, thermal vacuum); fiber-optic harness design experience; proven ability in fast-paced startup environments with cross-functional teams.
