CesiumAstro develops advanced communication systems for satellites, UAVs, launch vehicles, and other space and airborne platforms. This Senior Embedded Software Engineer role spans the full software development lifecycle—from concept through production and in-orbit support.
You will own software designs across multiple abstraction levels: microcontrollers, low-level drivers, board support packages (BSP), Linux-based single-board computers, end-use applications, and user interfaces. Key responsibilities include:
• Design and develop high-reliability software for space and defense applications
• Manage product roadmaps, create block diagrams, and execute detailed design and coding
• Conduct analysis, testing, and qualification of embedded systems
• Provide in-orbit support and troubleshooting for deployed products
• Present engineering design reviews to customers and executive leadership
• Contribute to proposal-writing efforts
• Mentor and guide cross-functional teams in a dynamic, collaborative environment
The ideal candidate brings deep experience across the embedded software stack—from bare-metal microcontroller programming to high-level application development. You should have proven expertise in software testing, high-reliability qualification practices, and software engineering/project management methodologies. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential, as you'll interface directly with customers and leadership.
This role initially offers remote flexibility, with a planned transition to in-person work once the Florida office is established. U.S. citizenship or eligible immigration status required due to government space technology export regulations.
