Salary: USD 238,400 - 275,000 / annual
Rent the Runway is seeking a VP of Finance to lead the financial strategy and FP&A function as a key member of the executive team reporting to the CFO. The company is transforming the fashion industry through its circular fashion platform, offering subscription rentals, one-time rentals, and ownership of designer apparel and accessories.
In this role, you will lead the FP&A team and partner with business stakeholders across the organization to drive budgeting, forecasting, and business performance management. You'll play an integral role in RTR's strategic evolution from a subscription-focused model to a multi-service fashion platform. Key responsibilities include:
• Lead and develop the FP&A team, establishing departmental vision, goal-setting, coaching, and individual development plans
• Design and oversee enterprise planning and performance reporting processes, managing rolling forecasts and driving accountability through weekly, monthly, and quarterly planning cadences
• Develop strategic financial plans and long-range forecasts in partnership with operating leaders
• Partner with the CFO to formulate external guidance and ensure disciplined business management to meet commitments
• Lead corporate financing activities, including board recommendations, funding analysis, and execution
• Support SEC filings through MD&A commentary and business risk disclosure narratives
• Build and iterate complex financial models covering all aspects of RTR's operations to enable strategic decision-making on revenue growth, cost structure, and capital investments
• Improve operating teams' financial literacy through transparent analysis and partnership
• Enhance efficiency of internal financial reporting processes and establish continuous improvement standards
• Evaluate and recommend investments in planning systems and analytic tools leveraging company data and AI
• Establish, track, and monitor key operating metrics in partnership with Business Intelligence
• Create ad-hoc analyses to drive business strategy, improve efficiency, and maximize ROI
• Prepare materials for Board meetings and participate in key financial planning presentations
• Oversee lender reporting and compliance certification requirements
This is an office-centric role based in Brooklyn, NY headquarters with in-office requirements Monday–Thursday. The role offers the opportunity to shape financial strategy at a high-growth, venture-backed company with a strong brand presence and proven market disruption.
REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor's degree required
• 15+ years of experience in finance and strategic analysis in operational roles within ecommerce brands, apparel retailers, or consumer products companies (investment banking, consulting, or asset management experience is a plus)
• Demonstrated ability to quickly immerse into a new business and provide valuable insights
• Strong attention to detail with ability to understand larger business context; independent thinker
• Proven experience leading, building, and managing high-performing teams
• Entrepreneurial drive with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong leadership and mentorship capabilities
• Highly proficient in financial analysis and model building with understanding of decision-making implications
• Ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously
