Salary: USD 303,100 - 562,900 / annual
DTX Pharma, a Novartis Company, is seeking a VP of Applied AI, Data Science & Commercial Intelligence to lead enterprise strategy and execution across AI, machine learning, data science, and commercial intelligence. This executive role reports to senior leadership and owns the full lifecycle of applied AI and analytics capabilities—from strategy definition through platform deployment and team leadership.
Key responsibilities include: defining and executing enterprise AI/data strategy aligned with business priorities; leading multidisciplinary teams spanning AI, ML, data science, analytics, and commercial insights; developing and deploying AI-powered products and decision-support solutions that improve customer engagement, commercial performance, and operational efficiency; partnering with business leaders to identify and prioritize high-value AI/analytics use cases with measurable ROI; establishing governance frameworks for AI, model lifecycle management, responsible AI, and data quality; building scalable AI and data platforms enabling reusable models and rapid innovation; and recruiting, mentoring, and developing world-class technical and product talent.
The ideal candidate brings 15+ years of progressive leadership experience in applied AI, data science, analytics, commercial intelligence, or technology transformation at enterprise scale, with proven success in pharmaceutical, healthcare, life sciences, or biotech environments. You should have a track record of setting AI/data strategy, scaling AI-enabled products, and delivering measurable business outcomes. Deep technical fluency across machine learning, GenAI, agentic AI, LLMs, RAG, data engineering, MLOps/LLMOps, cloud platforms, experimentation, and model governance is essential. Strong understanding of commercial business value drivers—customer engagement, field effectiveness, omnichannel, launch excellence, personalization, market access, forecasting, and operational efficiency—is critical. You must demonstrate enterprise leadership capability to align Commercial, Product, Engineering, Legal/Privacy, Compliance, Security, Finance, and senior business leaders around responsible AI adoption.
Preferred qualifications include experience leading generative AI or agentic AI adoption, large-scale analytics transformation across business units or functions, advanced degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Engineering, AI/ML, Operations Research, Economics, or Bioinformatics, external thought leadership, and demonstrated ability to attract and retain senior talent. The role requires 10% travel (domestic and international) and periodic relocation flexibility within 50 miles of East Hanover, NJ for on-site work.
