You will own the full People & Talent function for a globally distributed organization scaling rapidly. This is end-to-end ownership spanning Talent Acquisition, Total Rewards, People Operations, and Compliance, with particular depth required in global mobility, entity and employer-of-record management, and compensation design.
Approximately two-thirds of the role focuses on the operating stack: global recruiting strategy across technical and non-technical functions; structured hiring processes that raise talent density; workforce planning and headcount modeling in partnership with Finance; compensation philosophy and band architecture mapped to company levels; equity strategy at the pre-IPO stage (new hire grants, refresh programs, 409A cadence); annual compensation and merit cycles across owned entities and EOR markets; global benefits program design and renewals; and executive compensation recommendations for the CEO and Board.
The remaining third centers on employee experience and culture: workspace and physical environment strategy, onboarding programs, and building learning and development programming from the ground up.
This is not an execution-only seat. The executive team expects the People function to carry a strategic point of view on how talent decisions drive the business and to bring that perspective into leadership conversations proactively. You will define strategy and own execution. You are building, not inheriting—programs, policies, systems, and team headcount are yours to establish.
Key responsibilities include: owning global recruiting strategy and staying close enough to personally run critical searches; implementing structured hiring processes and holding hiring managers accountable; moving time-to-hire and quality-of-hire against defined baselines; partnering with Finance on headcount planning and geographic expansion; designing compensation philosophy and band architecture defensible against benchmarking sources; managing equity programs including new hire grants, refresh cycles, and 409A processes; running annual compensation cycles with geographic differentials; designing and managing global benefits renewals; preparing executive compensation materials for leadership and the Board; building and scaling the People team; managing HRIS implementation and data governance; ensuring compliance across multiple jurisdictions; and handling global mobility, entity setup, and EOR arrangements.
The role requires hands-on experience with complex compliance landscapes, particularly in the Middle East (UAE, KSA, Bahrain), EMEA expansion, and multi-entity payroll and tax management.
**Requirements:**
- 10+ years in People & HR leadership, with at least 5 years in a VP or equivalent strategic People role at a high-growth, venture-backed, or public company
- Demonstrated experience building People functions from the ground up or scaling them significantly during hypergrowth
- Deep expertise in global compensation design, equity programs (especially pre-IPO), and total rewards strategy
- Hands-on experience with global mobility, employer-of-record arrangements, and multi-entity compliance across EMEA and Asia-Pacific
- Proven ability to partner with Finance on headcount planning, workforce modeling, and budget forecasting
- Experience implementing or managing HRIS platforms and data governance at scale
- Familiarity with employment law and compliance across multiple jurisdictions (US, UK, EU, APAC preferred)
- Hands-on Middle East experience: employer-of-record arrangements versus local entity setup, and managing employees across UAE, KSA, and Bahrain labor and compliance landscapes
- Strategic mindset combined with operational excellence and attention to detail
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and drive results with limited resources initially
