Seeq is seeking a Senior/Staff UX Researcher to join its UX team and drive research strategy across the product portfolio. You will collaborate with UX researchers, designers, product managers, engineers, and customer-facing teams to solve critical problems for users of industrial data analytics software.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead research strategy and execution: Define research strategies for complex, ambiguous product and customer problems. Partner with Product and Design to identify critical learning needs before committing to direction. Frame research questions, hypotheses, participant profiles, methods, timelines, and decision criteria. Select and combine qualitative and quantitative approaches including customer interviews, contextual inquiry, workflow observation, ethnographic research, concept testing, usability testing, surveys, product behavior data, and competitive research. Recruit and engage diverse participants including customers, prospects, operators, engineers, managers, executives, and internal subject matter experts. Conduct research directly in remote and in-person sessions with customers in industrial and technical environments. Synthesize evidence across sessions and data sources to identify patterns, unmet needs, root causes, opportunities, and tradeoffs. Produce clear research readouts that help stakeholders understand findings, implications, and recommended decisions.
Influence product direction: Embed research throughout the product development lifecycle, not only at the end. Influence product strategy, roadmap decisions, prioritization, terminology, information architecture, workflow design, and release readiness. Help Product, Design, and Engineering translate customer evidence into clear problem statements, requirements, acceptance criteria, and testable hypotheses. Validate early concepts, prototypes, and evolving experiences before significant engineering investment. Continue learning post-launch through usability feedback, customer conversations, and product behavior signals. Communicate clearly when research challenges existing requests or assumptions, and help teams determine next steps. Balance user needs with business goals, technical constraints, delivery timelines, accessibility, security, and enterprise software realities.
Research complex technical experiences: Develop deep understanding of how Seeq users analyze data, monitor assets and processes, investigate problems, create and share findings, and collaborate. Research workflows spanning multiple personas, roles, systems, and expertise levels. Bring human-centered perspective to data-heavy, analytics, automation, and AI-enabled experiences. Help teams understand what makes AI-powered experiences trustworthy, useful, explainable, controllable, and contextually appropriate. Identify opportunities to simplify complex workflows without removing flexibility and depth advanced users need.
Raise research quality and leverage: Establish practical standards for research planning, recruiting, moderation, synthesis, documentation, and communication. Build and maintain an organized body of customer evidence for product decisions. Improve how Seeq prioritizes research capacity. Mentor researchers and help cross-functional teams build sound research habits. Share research methods, findings, patterns, and insights to create alignment and momentum. Identify opportunities to use tools and automation responsibly while keeping human judgment and research quality central. Contribute to a healthy, collaborative UX culture through critique, coaching, and continuous improvement.
Requirements:
• Six or more years of professional experience in UX research, user research, human factors, or related discipline, or equivalent depth of experience
• Demonstrated experience leading research for complex products, workflows, or services with significant ambiguity
• Strong qualitative research skills: interviewing, contextual inquiry, usability testing, concept testing, moderation, and synthesis
• Ability to use quantitative research, product behavior data, surveys, and analytics to strengthen qualitative findings
• Experience partnering closely with Product, Design, and Engineering from discovery through delivery and post-launch learning
• Experience influencing product strategy, roadmap decisions, or prioritization through research and customer evidence
• Strong communication skills: ability to make complex findings clear, concise, compelling, and actionable for different audiences
• Demonstrated judgment about research quality, participant ethics, confidentiality, accessibility, and appropriate use of customer information
• Experience mentoring others, improving team practices, or creating leverage beyond individual studies
• Comfort working independently, managing multiple priorities, and creating structure in ambiguous situations
Helpful Experience:
• Research in B2B, SaaS, enterprise software, industrial technology, manufacturing, energy, chemicals, life sciences, or other technically complex domains
• Experience with data analytics, process analytics, dashboards, visualization, monitoring, or other data-heavy products
• Experience researching multi-user workflows, role-based experiences, permissions, governance, or cross-team collaboration
• Experience researching AI or machine learning-enabled products, including trust, transparency, explainability, confidence, and human control
• Experience with mixed methods research, experimentation, longitudinal research, or product analytics
• Experience establishing research repositories, participant programs, customer advisory practices, or other repeatable research capabilities
• Formal education in psychology, cognitive science, human-computer interaction, human factors, sociology, anthropology, or related field (equivalent practical experience also welcome)
