Pay.com is hiring an Underwriting Specialist to join the team in Limassol on a hybrid basis, reporting to the Underwriting Team Lead. The role focuses on merchant onboarding for payment acquiring services, with responsibility for evaluating new merchants against regulatory and Card Scheme standards.
Key responsibilities include collaborating with Sales and internal teams to collect and review merchant onboarding documentation; accessing corporate registries across jurisdictions to obtain documentation and determine corporate structure; reviewing and resolving flags from screening and verification checks; performing website reviews to assess business models and identify prohibited or high-risk activity in compliance with Card Scheme rules and AML requirements; conducting risk analysis on prospective merchants (financial standing, processing history, rolling reserve) to determine overall risk level; reviewing findings from AML, Risk, Fraud and other checks, documenting outcomes per departmental procedures, and escalating to the Underwriting Team Lead or Risk/Compliance as needed; maintaining accurate records of merchant documentation and onboarding status; identifying areas for process improvement and suggesting practical solutions; and assisting with department projects and initiatives.
The ideal candidate brings 1-3 years of experience in a similar role within a regulated financial institution, with proven experience onboarding corporate legal entities. AML certifications, Card Scheme rules knowledge, or experience with KYC/AML screening tools are advantageous. Fluent or native-level English (written and spoken) is required, along with excellent communication skills and a collaborative, team-oriented approach.
